Kosi River Basin Information System (KosiRBIS)The KosiRBIS is a data and information management system of the Kosi River basin of the Himalayan region primarily focused on hydro-meteorological and geo datasets. The RBIS is designed with a focus on i) metadata ii) time series data iii) geodata of the basin. These three components of RBIS are interlinked with each other in the system and thereby users can easily switch between the components. In addition, the RBIS provides user-friendly interfaces for data input and output, powerful visualization components, and an adaptable set of functions for data analysis, data management, and data enrichment. The RBIS is supported and developed by the Department of Geoinformatics, Hydrology and Modelling (DGHM), Friedrich-Schiller University (FSU-Jena). The hydro-meteorological time series data has been obtained from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Government of Nepal, and hence, the download of the data set from the KosiRBIS is prohibited for users. The geodata has been created by using SRTM DEM 90M data from the CGIAR-CSI GeoPortal (http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/). We thank the data providers for the data set. The KosiRBIS is a part of a PhD research project supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the 'International Postgraduate Studies in Water Technologies (IPSWaT)' scholarship program.
